Discover Aromatherapy and Holistic Massage

Aromatherapy is an ancient healing art that uses the many powerful qualities of essential oils to bring about deep relaxation and help the body’s systems achieve balance. It helps restore and maintain the health of body, mind & spirit. Massage with essential oils is one of the most important aspects of aromatherapy as it enables the oils to be both inhaled and absorbed through the skin.

Massage is the systematic & manual manipulation of the body’s soft tissue for therapeutic benefit to promote health and well-being.

When you hold or rub an injury, you are responding to the instinct upon which massage is based. If you take part in sport, enjoy dancing or just lead an active life, you can use massage to improve your performance, aid recovery or prevent an injury.

Essential oils are said to be the life force of plants. They are fragrant, easily evaporating liquids, extracted from various parts of plants. Essential oils contain dozens of powerful, complex, naturally occurring chemicals that have beneficial properties. It is the diversity of essential oils and their individual therapeutic effects that, gives aromatherapy its wide ranging benefits.

What are the benefits?

Aromatherapy and holistic massage have both physical and psychological effects. The combination of massage and the therapeutic qualities of the essential oils treat the whole person and have many benefits including:

  • Inducing a feeling of deep relaxation
  • Relieving symptoms of stress & related illnesses
  • Easing aches & pains
  • Relaxing tension & tight muscles
  • Promoting general well-being
  • Strengthening the immune system
  • Improving circulation
  • Improving digestion & absorption of nutrients
  • Restoring balance in the body
  • Regulating blood pressure
  • Enhancing lymphatic drainage - reducing fluid retention and preventing oedema
  • Helping reduce nervous tension
  • Calming & soothing the mind

What does a treatment involve?

I work from a dedicated treatment room free from interruptions. Initially there will be a consultation where we will discuss your health, diet and lifestyle. Certain conditions may affect the treatment and choice of oils.

Essential oils are then chosen and a unique blend is created specifically for you and your needs, taking into account your aroma preference.

The oils are applied to your skin through body massage to some or all of the following: back, legs & feet, stomach, arms & hands, head, neck & shoulders — although no area will be massaged without your consent. You will be asked to undress, but your modesty will be preserved at all times and you will be covered with towels throughout.

Avoid eating a heavy meal before massage - try to leave at least an hour after eating for digestion.

Try to avoid applying moisturiser to your skin before treatment or wearing make-up to the appointment, as these can prevent the absorption of essential oils into your body.

What people say

Holding down a full-time job and studying two intensive courses was beginning to take a toll. After each aromatherapy session I felt much lighter, more upbeat, better able to cope and very relaxed, For a while I  feel as if I am walking on air!

Rebecca Staatz

I was nervous about my first massage, but I needn’t have worried - within ten minutes I was completely relaxed and by the end of the hour I was blissfully peaceful. I realised what I had been missing out on and now regularly treat myself to a massage, regardless of whether I deserve it or not.
