2 Old Hall

NR34 8HB

We offer cycle-friendly accommodation in a 16th century old hall set on a 3 acre organic smallholding in the peaceful Waveney valley.   We grow much of our own food and welcome informal visitors to share our lifestyle and the idyllic surroundings.  There is no TV and no private tea making facilities - as our guests you share our home!   We are a non-smoking, vegetarian, child friendly household.

We offer very informal bed and breakfast accommodation at £20 per person.  Children are very welcome and are half price.  Under 5s are free.

We make a charge of £5 per motor vehicle per night to encourage those arriving by bike and on foot.  There is public transport (bus and train) to Beccles which is 2 miles to the east.

Evening meals, using garden produce, can be provided at £10 per person.

We are just two miles from National Cycle Route 1 (Hull to Harwich route). On the Sustrans map (panel 3) look for the track that ends in the middle of nowhere just west of Beccles and just north of Barsham.  We are right at the end of this track.  There is cycle and pedestrian access along the marsh track from Beccles (not shown on the Sustrans map), thus avoiding most of the B1062.  If you have an OS map you can find us at Grid Reference 396904.

You can buy the map from your local book shop (ISBN 0-9527106-6-8) or order one on-line from Sustrans

We are also convenient (just 3 miles) for the Heart of Suffolk Cycle Route, a fully signed 125km circuit along the quiet lanes of Suffolk.  An excellent  map & guide book can be purchased for £2 at bookshops and from Tourist Information Centres (ISBN 0-86-055257-8).

A further signed cycle route available locally  is "The Two Rivers Cycle Route" which follows the River Waveney and the River Little Ouse along the Norfolk-Suffolk border.  It is signed as Regional Route 30 of the National Cycle Network and passes within 2 miles of  us.  An excellent  map & guide book can be purchased at Tourist Information Centres.
