GREEN JACK BREWERY AND THEIR BEERS
Originally founded in 1993 at Oulton Broad by real ale enthusiast Tim Dunford, the Green Jack Brewery ceased to trade in 2001 after a split with business partners. However, in 2003 Tim installed a 2000 litre plant behind the Triangle Tavern in Lowestoft to become England’s most Easterly brewery. Winner of numerous CAMRA beer festival awards, most recently Orange Wheat winning Champion Beer at Norwich beer festival and Canary at Ipswich, the beers are a testament to Tim’s taste, skills and commitment to individuality and quality.
Green Jack beers are well known for their hoppy character, with locally malted wheat and barley, traditional whole English cone hops blended with hops from the New world in generous proportions to give the beers floral and citrus aromas.
The regular beers in the portfolio are:-

Canary, 3.8% abv – straw coloured pale ale with a flowery hop (styrian Goldings), a fantastic session best bitter. |

Orange Wheat Beer, 4.2% abv– Light with grainy fruit, citrus and marmalade flavours, the big favourite of our regulars and locals. |

Grasshopper, 4.6% abv – full bodied, dark –copper coloured premium bitter with chocolate, fruit, malt and hop flavours, a more traditional style appreciated by visitors and locals alike. |

Gone Fishing, 5.5% abv – strong golden pale ale – very more-ish. |
Seasonal and occasional brews include:-

Honey Bunny, 4% abv – spring brewed honey beer. |

Golden Sickle, 4.8% abv – heavily hopped fruity pale ale. |

Summer Dream, 4.2% abv – summer only – fruity dry and hoppy with fresh elderflower. |

Lurcher, 5.9% abv - old ale style, fruity, chocolaty, rich and fulsome, yet still well balanced with hops. |

|
Ripper, 8.5% abv - our Champion barley wine, dangerously smooth, yet well hopped – a match for many Belgian ales. |
Very occasional rare brews to watch out for are those Tim makes in the Belgian fruit beer style, using real fruits such as Cherry Popper – 8.5% abv, Raspberry Blower - 8.5%, Fruit Bat – 5.5% abv.
