Wigton & Ayton Friends Schools Trust

We are trustees of a long tradition which has sought to bring our religious convictions into the world 'and so to excite our endeavours to mend it'. We are trying to live in the virtue of that life and power that takes away the occasion of all wars. London Yearly Meeting, 1987

Cumberland Area Quaker Meeting (comprising the former North Cumbria and West Cumbria Area Meetings) consists of seven local Quaker Meetings - Alston, Carlisle, Cockermouth, Mosedale, Keswick, Penrith and Whitehaven. Fuller details of these are available by following the links on the left, which explain how to get there, when we meet, and so on. If you need to contact us, then follow the Contacts link.

Quakers do not have clergy - we appoint some of our members to be clerks (for business meetings), elders and overseers. The key to our worship is waiting on the Spirit in silence. If you want to know more about Quakers - what we are; what we believe; and what we do - then follow the link "About Quakers" which will take you to our national web site.

Cumberland Area Quaker Meeting is a registered charity (1161207).  In connection with this we have a Governing Document, which sets out our charitable object, and how we are managed. We also have policies which you can see by following the link on the left.

The report Cumberland United about the amalgamation of the two previous (North & West Cumbria) AMs is available here.
