William and Phoebe WATSON first appear in Monmouthshire with the baptism at Bedwellty of a daughter Elizabeth on 28 May 1809. She was followed by Ann and Joseph, born in Tredegar and baptised together at St Sannan's Bedwellty, on 3 November 1821.

In 1841 William and Phoebe were living at Cwmrhos Row, Tredegar with Ann and her husband William CAREY. The census gives their origin as outside Monmouthshire. William Watson is variously described as a haulier, coal merchant and labourer. He died at Tredegar on 22 April 1846. Searches of subsequent censuses and death registrations have failed to find Phoebe.

Searches in Glamorgan and neighbouring Breconshire parishes and the usual internet sources have failed to find their origin.
