STORYTELLING brings
language to life, as
children feel the power
and richness of the
spoken word. Their
imagination is encouraged;
their creativity kindled.
The
National
Literacy Strategy
recognises that teaching
pupils to read and write
depends on the
development of speech and
listening. Telling
stories provides an
invaluable source of
inspiration.
PETE offers one-off storytelling sessions, workshops, and longer projects to Nursery, Primary, Secondary and Special Schools. As well as working in the classroom, Pete enjoys performing to children and their parents outside school hours. He is also available to lead INSET sessions.
"Literacy
... involves speaking and
listening which ... are
an essential part of (the
Framework for Teaching).
Good oral work enhances
pupils' understanding of
language in both oral and
written forms and of the
way language can be used
to communicate. It is
also an important part of
the process through which
pupils read and compose
texts.
"Thus
the Framework ...
contributes substantially
to the development of
Speaking and Listening."

Strategy Framework for
